Board and Trains are a great option that I recommend for service dogs, puppies, and reactive dogs.
During board and trains, foundational work such as leash walking, communication skills, and basic obedience are taught. Remaining training during a board and trains are based on your custom goals with your pup.
All dogs live with me in a residential setting where we practice proper in-home manners. Each board and train is explicitly designed to meet the needs and goals of you and your dog. Our board and train programs typically have a two-three week minimum and can extend as long as 6+ months, depending on the wants and needs of the owner and dog.
All board and trains include two go-home lessons with virtually no time limit. You end the session when you're comfortable with the information I've given you. In addition to the in-person go-home lessons, you also receive two virtual lessons for any time you want to check in, chat about something new, or refresh old content.
Whether you book private lessons, group lessons, or board and trains, For Paws is a CGC Evaluator and offers testing for titles like AKC S.T.A.R Puppy, Canine Good Citizen, Urban Canine Good Citizen, and Advanced Canine Good Citizen for all For Paws clients who are ready to test their skills.

Going on a trip and don't want to leave your dog(s) at a traditional, commercial sized kennel? Board them with me in my home where they can live in a residential setting, receiving hikes at local forest preserves, custom mental and physical enrichment, and the luxury of a large backyard!
Boarding with For Paws is a great option for all dogs, but especially helpful for dogs who:
-Are anxious or have other behavioral sensitivities
-Require added structure
-Don't do well under the care of an irregular team of people
-Do not do well with other dogs or only do well with a specific type of dog
-Need specific grooming or medical care
-Have special diet needs (raw fed, requires very regular daily feeding, takes lots of supplements)
Any of these sound like your pup? Contact today to book your spot!

During the day, your pup stays with me in the living spaces or plays and roams around the backyard. Besides for daily walks, I often will go to forest preserves for a more enriching hike for the dogs (and me)!
At night, or when I leave the house, dogs are kenneled or in their own, secure, spaces for their safety. I have two rooms that I affectionately refer to as the "guest suites" for your dogs.
The fences around the backyard are roughly five feet tall. The fence at the back of the yard is 6 feet in height.
Dogs in my care are under constant supervision. There are also private cameras that stream and record the backyard for additional safety.
During both board and trains and private lessons, your dog may visit a dog-friendly location for training. This can include eating at dog-friendly patios, practicing in crowded areas, and working on obedience and distractions in pet friendly establishments.
